Kenyon cards first top five at Tiger Invitational

PINEHURST, N.C. – The Kenyon College men's golf team headed east after opening up the 2026 spring slate in Georgia for the three-round Tiger Invitational early this week, hosted by Hampden-Sydney College at Forest Creek Golf Club.

Led by even par performances from Adrian Jordan and Connor Gray, who finished T-12 on the individual leaderboard, along with good outings from the rest of the team, the Owls were able to secure their first top five finish of the spring season, taking fifth out of 20 teams with a +5 score.

Jordan turned in the most consistent scores for Kenyon, shooting an even par 72 for all three rounds. He made three birdies in round one, four in round two and three in his third round. Gray, coming off of the North Coast Athletic Conference's Athlete of the Week honor, got his tournament started off with a two-over 74 before carding the team's best round of the week, a two-under 72 that included three birdies and an eagle. He finished out with four birdies and a 72.

Jonathan Oakes finished next for the Owls, ending at three over par which was good enough for a T-30 on the individual ranks. He opened play with back to back scores of 74, carding five birdies in round one and three in his second round. His third was his best, shooting one under 71 with three circles. For the tournament, he ranked tied for fifth in birdies made (11).

In the fourth spot was Jaiden Koonar, who opened play with two 73's (+1) that included two and four birdies, a score which would prove to be his best round. He closed things out with a six over 78 which put him at +8 for the tournament and a tie for 49th individually.

Rounding out the Kenyon squad was Rafael Frias IV, who was not far behind at +10 for the tournament, good enough for a tie for 57th. After two rounds of 77 to open the tournament, he fired an even par 72 with four birdies to close play.

As a team, the Owls ranked fourth in birdies made (47), fourth in par four scoring (4.13) and second in par five scoring (4.75), ending at -15 for the tournament in par fives.

Methodist University took home the top spot, shooting -13 as a team. Huntingdon College (-7) was next, while Sewanee (+2)  and Emory College (+2) tied for third ahead of Kenyon.

Kenyon will be back on the course on Friday, March 20 for the three round, three day Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational, teeing off from Pine Lakes Golf Course on Jekyll Island, Georgia.
