CLEVELAND – The North Coast Athletic Conference announced its Athletes of the Week for March 24, with Kenyon College senior Eleni Lazaridou earning Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week honors after a commanding week at the top of the Owls' lineup against ranked opponents.
Competing at court one, Lazaridou showcased her dominance early in the week with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over No. 32 Whitman College, helping propel Kenyon to a 6-1 team win.
She followed that performance with another statement showing against No. 20 Williams College, cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 win at the top singles spot as the Owls secured a tight 4-3 victory.
Against No. 13 Johns Hopkins University, Lazaridou battled through a three-set thriller, taking the match 6-1, 3-6, 11-9 to add Kenyon's only point of the match.
Lazaridou was just as impactful in doubles play alongside Hana Nouaime. The duo opened the weekend with a 6-4 win against No. 13 Johns Hopkins University before returning to dominate Williams with a 6-0 victory at the No. 1 doubles spot.
With her strong week, Lazaridou improves to 8-1 in singles play while holding a 7-3 mark in doubles with Nouaime by her side.
