Kenyon falls to No. 3 Chicago on neutral site

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Kenyon College women's tennis team took on its fourth straight ranked opponent on Sunday morning, facing off against No. 3 University of Chicago from a neutral site in Indianapolis, Indiana. 

Although the Owls were competitive in several matches throughout the afternoon, the team could not top the Maroons, falling 0-7 in the end. 

Kenyon kept in close in all doubles contests, but was not able to seal the deal. Eleni Lazaridou and Hana Nouaime teamed up in the No. 1 flight, falling 6-2. Over in the second matchup, Kiara Komlodi and Shadia Amado Aguad dropped their contest 6-3. The third flight was the tightest match, as Bridgette Kelly and Clare Hudson battled to a 5-5 tie, but after dropping the first two flights, the match was abandoned. 

Komlodi and Kelly put up the strongest fights in singles, in the second and sixth sets respectively. Komlodu fell in the opener 3-6 before storming back to a 6-1 win in the second set to even things up, but could not close the deal, falling 1-6 in the third. Kelly was the only Owl to win in the first frame, coming away with a 6-4 winner, but fell 1-6, 2-6 to close it out. 

In the first flight, Lazaridou fell 2-6 in back to back sets, while Nouaime was pushed to a tiebreaker in each of her sets in the the third flight, but fell 5-7 in each of them. 

Amado Aguad fell 2-6 in her opener in the fourth set before dropping the second 3-6. Hudson fell in her fifth flight match as well, losing 0-6 and 1-6.

Kenyon's record drops to 10-4 on the season. The Owls will have a small break before taking on No. 21 Case Western Reserve University on Saturday, April 4 at 10:00 a.m.
