Komlodi nets second NCAC Athlete of the Week

CLEVELAND – The North Coast Athletic Conference announced its weekly awards Tuesday afternoon and Kiara Komlodi of the Kenyon Owls women's tennis team was named the conference's Athlete of the Week for matches played through April 14. The recognition marks the second time this season Komlodi has earned the honor.

Komlodi spearheaded Kenyon's doubleheader sweep of Wittenberg Tigers and DePauw Tigers, helping the Owls secure a pair of decisive victories. Anchoring the lineup at the No. 1 doubles position, Komlodi delivered wins with two different partners throughout the day.

In the opener against Wittenberg, Komlodi teamed with Sophia Carling and the pair rolled to a 6-0 victory over Marin Summers and Celeste Hartings, marking their first win together as a tandem. Later in the day against DePauw, Komlodi again controlled the top doubles spot, partnering with Eleni Lazaridou to post a 6-2 win over Valerie Doherty and Brian O'Neal, also the duo's first victory as a pairing.

Komlodi carried that momentum into singles play, producing a 6-2, 6-0 triumph over Katie King at the No. 2 court. With the victory, Komlodi improved her season singles mark to 20-6 overall and remained undefeated in conference play at 5-0.

Up next, the Owls will host The College of Wooster in their final NCAC matchup of the season on Thursday, April 16, with first serve set for 4:30 p.m.
