Owls blank Pioneers 3-0

MARIETTA, Ohio – The Kenyon College men's soccer team picked up its fifth win in six matches this season on Wednesday evening against the Marietta College Pioneers. Playing in the cool of the evening, the Owls recorded a 3-0 victory in their first of a three-game road spell. Kenyon now moves to 5-1-0 on the season.

Set-piece dominance has been a large part of the Owls success this season, which only continued to prove dividends in the 11th minute. Coming off a corner kick and an assist from Grant Blake, junior back Kevin Farina found the net for his first goal of the year and third contribution. Like clockwork, the Owls received a free kick in the 17th minute of the match. Only seconds later, Emmett Brown extended the lead for the Owls with an assist from the side's leading point contributor Lucas de Alcaron. Hayato Ishii continued the Kenyon fireworks finding the low left corner to push Kenyon to a three-nil lead in the 24th minute off a second de Alarcon assist. 

The second half saw the Owls maintain their three-nil lead with strong play from the back line. Kenyon allowed a total of just two shots (zero on net), serving up the side's fourth clean sheet of the season. 

The Owls next match takes place on September 19, at 6:30 p.m., at a ranked Case Western Reserve University side.
