Owls compete to 10-place finish at All-Ohio Classic

CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- The Kenyon College women's cross country team took a strong 10-place finish at the All-Ohio Classic on the campus of Cedarville University. With 31 teams competing and 323 runners, the women's team saw some fierce competition.

Pacing the Owls from the front was senior Olivia Ide, who finished in 41st place and collected 34 pts with a 6k time of 23:46.0. Right behind Ide, junior Lucie Prior crossed the line in 23:49.5 to take 45th place and contribute 37 pts.

First-year Eliza Herber followed at 24:30.4, finishing 85th (67 pts), while first-year Katherine Novak crossed the finish line just ten seconds later at 24:40.0 for a 95th-place finish (73 pts). Following closely in 103rd place was first-year Ellie Allan, making her mark at 24:44.1 (78 pts).

Seniors Eva Shannon and Hannah Gross both competed hard until the end. Shannon grabbed 152nd at 25:41.0 (103 pts) and Gross crossed at 26:03.1 for a 169th-place finish (113 pts). Rounding out the team's performance were first-years Delaney Gradwell, crossing at 26:41.5 in 195th place, and Corrine Elmore, making her mark at 28:19.3 in 237th place.

The Owls battled to the end with an overall score of 289 points, enough to take down some familiar conference competitors and NCAA Division I and II programs. The host Yellow Jackets of Cedarville University repeated familiar success with having several top-place finishers and ending the race in second place. Taking first place this year with 24 pts was the Division I Cincinnati Bearcats.

In the 2025 season, the Owls finished in 16th place, meaning their placement today, with the caliber of competitors, was impressive. Out of the Division III schools, Kenyon ranked fifth with 126 pts. With the top-five Kenyon athletes running sub-25 for the 6k run, the Owls were able to secure the overall 10th-place finish at the Classic.

The women's cross country team will race again October 2 at both The Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, PA and at Ohio Wesleyan University in Powell, Ohio.
