WOOSTER, Ohio -- The Kenyon College women's volleyball team fell in four sets to The College of Wooster. After a dominant 25-19 victory in the first set the Owls lost three straight sets to the Terriers of Wooster in a strong showing.
Offensively, the Owls were strong with Olivia Gumz posting a total of 16 kills on the day taking 58 swings. She was followed closely by first year Abby Stenger who tallied 14 kills of her own through four sets hitting .190. Sophia Menke and Kendall Kirkbride each added six kills for the Owls. Kenyon recorded 52 kills compared to Woosters' 49 kills on the day coming in strong.
The Owls pushed every set to the limit with a total of five players recording at least 10 digs in the match. Arianna Flota recorded an impressive 20 digs of the 88 total digs recorded by Kenyon in the match. Hannah Schwemm picked up 18 digs of her own while providing 39 assists as well. On the net Menke and Stenger recorded 2.5 total blocks each with Giada Spisak adding one block as well.Â
The Owls battled well and will continue their season September 30, at eighth ranked Carnegie Mellon at 7:00 PM.Â
