Brett McMurray

Brett McMurray joins the Kenyon coaching staff ahead of the 2022 season as the defensive line coach and director of football operations. 

McMurray comes to Gambier after a short stint at Chabot College. Before Chabot, McMurray spent just over a year at Sul Ross State in Alpine, Texas, and a year at the College of the Redwoods. At each stop, McMurray acted as the head defensive coordinator. McMurray returned to his alma mater in 2018 to be the co-defensive coordinator while also coaching the linebackers. In January 2017, McMurray coached the linebackers along and assisted with game-day operations for Southwest Minnesota State University. Before going to Minnesota, McMurray coached the tight ends and fullbacks at Bemidji State University. McMurray got his coaching career started at the College of the Redwoods in 2015 as the linebackers coach. 

As a player, McMurray played for three years at Butte College, winning a national championship in 2008. Following the 2010 season, McMurray played at Division II Humboldt State. 

McMurray holds a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from Humboldt State and a Master of Science in Physical Education from Southwest Minnesota State.
