Kelvin Melgar

Kelvin Melgar

Kelvin Melgar was hired in the summer of 2024 and will take on several roles with the Owls football team. On the field, his focus will be on defensive backs and special teams. Away from the field, he’ll be the team’s director of football operations.

Before joining the Kenyon staff, Melgar counted eight years of college coaching experience, most recently at Colorado State University-Pueblo, where he spent a season as a defensive analyst.

Melgar’s other coaching experiences included stops at Western Carolina University, where he spent one season, and Gustavus Adolphus College, where he spent four years. In both the 2021 and 2022 seasons he served as a co-defensive coordinator at Gustavus Adolphus, an NCAA Division III institution in Saint Peter, Minnesota.

From 2016 to 2019, Melgar started his coaching career at Houston Baptist University, serving as a student coach. He graduated from Houston Baptist in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology. In 2019-20, he moved on to Liberty University and earned a master’s degree in executive leadership.
