Andrew Brinkman joined the Kenyon College staff directly from the professional ranks, where he worked as a volunteer assistant coach with the Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer. The 2013 soccer season will be the fourth in Gambier for Brinkman.
Specializing as a goalkeeper coach, Brinkman also brings to Kenyon a wealth of coaching experience from the NCAA Division I level, where he spent a year with the Xavier University program followed by two years on The Ohio State University staff. While at Xavier, the team won the 2006 Atlantic 10 championship and at Ohio State the 2007 team ranked as high as No. 2 in the country and won the Big Ten championship.
Prior to his run at Division I, Brinkman spent six years as an assistant at NCAA Division III Wilmington College, where he was named the 2004 Ohio Athletic Conference Assistant Coach of the Year. Prior to that, he kick-started his collegiate coaching career at his alma mater, Hiram College, in 1999.
During his playing days at Hiram, Brinkman was the Terriers’ starting goalkeeper for two seasons. The team twice won the OAC title and reached a national ranking as high as No. 9.
