Andy joined the Kenyon College staff in 2007 as an assistant athletic trainer and took over the head athletic trainer role in 2010. He currently serves as the primary athletic trainer for men's soccer, men's lacrosse, and men's and women's tennis.

Prior to being hired at Kenyon, Wheeler worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at North Carolina State. During his two years at NC State he worked primarily with the wrestling team and assisted with the men's soccer team. While attending NC State, he completed his Masters of Education degree with an emphasis in health professions.

In 2005, Wheeler graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor's degree in athletic training. During his time at Ohio State he worked with football, men's and women's swimming and diving, men's soccer, men's basketball, and wrestling.

In addition to his athletic training duties at Kenyon, Wheeler oversees service to the entire student body in the athletic training room and is certified as a CPR/AED and First Aid instructor with the American Heart Association. He also teaches a Sports Medicine and Wellness class and co-teaches Anatomy and Physiology for Sports Science at Kenyon. He has also guest lectured for the athletic training student program at The Ohio State University.

Wheeler is certified as a Sportsmetrics Instructor. Sportsmetrics is proven to reduce the incidence of non-contact ACL injuries. As a certified Sportsmetrics instructor, Wheeler is able to use Sportsmetrics as part of the rehabilitation program in the Kenyon Sports Medicine Department, as well as offer the training to athletes in Knox County area.
 
Wheeler also spends time as a member of the Kenyon College men’s soccer coaching staff, which he officially joined at the beginning of the 2012 season. In that role, he assists in strategic planning and personnel decisions, while coordinating the Lords' injury prevention and conditioning programs throughout the season.
