Carter Cassell

In July 2014, Carter Cassell was selected as the assistant coach for the Ladies volleyball program. He returns to Knox County as he enters his third year of service at Kenyon following a successful playing career at The Ohio State University and serving in various instructional capacities throughout the region.

Cassell, a Mount Vernon, Ohio native, has engaged male and female volleyball players at the grade school, high school, and collegiate levels. As the assistant camp director with the Matchpoint Volleyball Club, he traveled across Ohio to teach high school students the art of setting and blocking. Most recently, Cassell held a position with the Capital Club in Columbus as a part of the member services and marketing team. Over the last two years, he spent time maintaining the club’s gym and increasing membership.

Cassell began his playing career at Lewis University in 2011, where he tallied 180 assists, 18 digs, and 15 total blocks. He then moved on to Ohio State where he played for the University’s men’s club volleyball team. In his first year, the Buckeyes finished fifth overall in the Division I final national rankings. As a prep player, he was named second team All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) and was tabbed the 2010 Ohio Boys Volleyball Player of the Year.

A 2014 graduate of Ohio State, Cassell earned his bachelor’s degree in sport industry while minoring in business. As a recipient of the All-Ohio Scholar-Athlete Award, he was a regular on the Dean’s List, graduated inside the top 10 percent of his class, and earned Summa Cum Laude honors.
