Hired in August of 2021, Morgan Brozena became the 13th head coach in Kenyon women's field hockey history.
Brozena's teams have compiled a 43-26 record over four seasons, including an 23-13Â mark against North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) competition. The Owls reached the postseason for the second time in Brozena's tenure in 2023, compiling a 10-8 (6-4 NCAC) record and five All-NCAC selections.Â
In 2022, Kenyon narrowly missed out on postseason play after losing the tiebreaker for fourth place in the league standings following a 10-7 (4-4 NCAC) record. Still, Brozena had a quartet of players earn All-NCAC honors. In 2024, the Owls placed fifth in the NCAC standings, again just missing the conference's four-team postseason tournament, and again placing four on the All-NCAC team.
During the 2021 campaign, her first season on campus, she continued the program's history of success. Her Kenyon team went 13-5 overall and 7-1 within NCAC play, which earned the Kenyon women their fifth regular-season conference crown over the past seven seasons. Brozena had five players named to the All-NCAC team and one named to the all-region team.
Brozena arrived at Kenyon after working as head coach at Cedar Crest College in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, the Falcons did not play a varsity schedule in 2020 and were limited to just a pair of scrimmages.
Prior to her year at Cedar Crest, Brozena worked at NCAA Division II University of New Haven. She was the graduate assistant in 2017 and then promoted to assistant coach for the following two seasons. She played an integral part in the program's development, as the Chargers took to the field for their first varsity season in 2017.
A native of Telford, Pennsylvania, Brozena specializes in goalkeeper work. During her playing days at Washington and Jefferson College, she was the Presidents starting goalkeeper for three seasons. She logged more than 3,000 minutes in 46 contests, cranking out a 25-18 career record with a dozen shutouts and 219 career saves, a total that ranks second all-time in program history.
After receiving her bachelor's degrees in French and international studies at Washington and Jefferson, Brozena kick-started her collegiate coaching career for one season as an assistant at Wittenberg University, a fellow member of the North Coast Athletic Conference. Her resume also includes experience as a coach with the HTC Field Hockey Club in Madison, Connecticut, as well as with the High Styx Field Hockey Club in Reading, Pennsylvania. Â Â
In July 2024, Brozena was named a Senior Woman Administrator for Kenyon Athletics. In this role, she serves as an active member of the Title IX Committee and the National Girls and Women in Sport Day team, and receives all communications from the NCAA and other organizations directed to the SWA. Â Additionally, Brozena serves as a resource for women coaches and staff as well as coaches of women.
At New Haven, Brozena earned her master's degree in sports management before moving on to Cedar Crest.
