In March 2012, Jacque DeMarco became the 13th head coach in the history of the Kenyon College field hockey program. Now heading into 2020, her ninth season running the ship, DeMarco has kept the Ladies near the top of the NCAC for several years.Â
A season ago, Kenyon had a good year, going 15-4, winning 11 in a row at one point, and making the NCAC Tournament final. DeMarco helped coach sophomore Sarah Metzmaier to NCAC Offensive Player of the Year accolades while putting three others on the all-conference list. Additionally, Metzmaier earned spots on two All-America award lists pushing DeMarco's total to seven since the 2013 season. Â
During the 2018 campaign, the Ladies went 9-9 and made the NCAC Tournament for the sixth-straight season. In the last seven years,  Kenyon has won a whopping 103 contests, two conference tournament titles and earned a victory in the NCAA Tournament during the 2016 season. .Â
In 2016, the Ladies had a late-season run to remember. After defeating Denison in the NCAC Tournament semifinal round, Kenyon went on to claim the tournament crown with an overtime victory at DePauw. The Ladies then won their NCAA Tournament opener in overtime at Elizabethtown College. It was the first NCAA tourney win since 2006. Kenyon finished the year with a 15-7 record and DeMarco was named Front Rush / National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year.Â
In 2015, the Ladies claimed another regular-season NCAC title before falling in the tournament championship in a penalty shootout. The Ladies went 17-3 under DeMarco who was named the conference's coach of the year for the second time.
Under DeMarco's watch, Kenyon delivered one of its best season in program history in 2014. The Ladies posted a 19-3 record, claimed the NCAC Tournament title and made the NCAA Division III Tournament. DeMarco garnered All-Region and NCAC Coach of the Year honors while also coaching a couple players to All-American status and a bevvy of other postseason accolades.
In 2013, DeMarco led the Ladies to a 13-7 mark and runner-up finish in the NCAC. In her six seasons with the program she's coached 38 players who won all-conference honors, 24 all-region players and three All-Americans. Â Â
Prior to joining the Ladies, DeMarco experienced a wealth of success as an assistant at all levels of the sport, including her previous post with NCAA Division I Ball State University.
DeMarco, a native of Hudson, Ohio, began her coaching career as a head goalie coach in the USA Field Hockey Futures program, a position she held for four years. In 2007, she added assistant coaching duties at Hartwick College to her resume. She spent two seasons there and helped develop multiple players who went on to earn all-conference and all-region honors.
In 2009, DeMarco left Hartwick for an assistant position at SUNY Cortland, where, with her assistance, the Dragons posted a 19-1 record and earned a No. 5 national ranking. Following that remarkable run, DeMarco moved on to Ball State. Once there, she worked primarily with the team's goalkeepers and helped the NCAA Division I Cardinals collect ten wins in the past two seasons.
During her own playing days, DeMarco was a four-year starting goalie for Colgate University and a two-time Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year. In her senior season, the two-time Raiders team captain finished No. 2 in the country in saves, earned first team all-league honors, and second team all-region honors.
DeMarco graduated from Colgate in 2007 with degrees in sociology and religion. In 2011, she earned her master's degree in sport management from Cortland.
