Meade Clendaniel enters his seventh season with the Lords after a 12-year stay with Davidson College (Davidson, N.C.). Clendaniel, brought on as the Lords' defensive coordinator and defensive back specialist, brings with him a wealth of experience from the Division I and II ranks both as a player and a coach.
With Davidson, Clendaniel helped guide three players to IAA Mid-Major All-American first team status and coached a two-time Academic All-American. From 2002 through 2005, Clendaniel coached four consecutive Pioneer League South Defensive Player of the Year honorees. In just his first season as defensive coordinator with Davidson in 2000, Clendaniel helped guide the team to its first undefeated (10-0) season in the program’s 103-year history.
Previously, Clendaniel spent his first three seasons as a coach at his alma mater, West Chester University. While coaching the Golden Rams he assisted in a variety of positions on the field including the defensive secondary, special teams, running backs, and the team’s recruitment efforts.
Following a three-year stint with West Chester, Clendaniel advanced to Division I Princeton University as an assistant responsible for the Tigers’ safeties, outside linebackers, and special teams units from 1998-2000. He also served as head coach of the junior varsity squad over his three seasons.
Clendaniel was a four-year player for West Chester where he suited up at fullback. In his career, he and the Golden Rams won the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Division title in 1992 and 1994 to advance to the NCAA Division II playoffs.
