WOOSTER, Ohio (October 15, 2011) The Kenyon College volleyball team made the short trip to the College of Wooster to open the season's second and final North Coast Athletic Conference Power Weekend. The Ladies began play with a five-set win over rival Denison University, but ended the day with a three-set loss to No. 4-ranked Wittenberg University.

Kenyon won the first set against Denison and held on for a tight 25-18, 21-25, 25-6, 18-25, 15-13 victory. It was the Ladies' fourth win in their last five matches and was the team's first win over the Big Red since the 1996 season. Before Saturday's defeat, Denison had a string of 26 straight victories over Kenyon.

Sophomore Sierra DeLeon led way in the kills department with 15. Seniors Mary Myers and Laura Harris followed up with 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Freshman Hannah Shank set up a majority of those kills and finished the match with 44 assists. Shank also registered three service aces.

On the defensive end, sophomore Ana Maricic posted a season-high seven blocks. Myers had a team-high ten digs. Bella Stachowski added nine more digs and Shank had eight.

Following that match, Kenyon played Wittenberg for the second time in the last four days and the result was very similar. After losing to the Tigers Wednesday in Gambier by scores of 25-16, 25-5, 25-14, the Ladies were tripped up again Saturday by scores of 25-15, 25-9, 25-10.

Kenyon (11-14, 5-6 NCAC) will return to Wooster tomorrow for the second and final day of the NCAC Power Weekend. They'll face Ohio Wesleyan University at 4 p.m. and then Hiram College and 6 p.m.
