WOOSTER, Ohio (October 16, 2011) The Kenyon College volleyball team wrapped up the second and final North Coast Athletic Conference weekend of the season by splitting a pair of matches with Ohio Wesleyan University and Hiram College on Sunday. The Ladies began the day by topping the Battling Bishops, 3-0, but dropped their nightcap to the Terriers by the same margin.
Senior
Mary Myers and sophomore
Ana Maricic led the attack against Ohio Wesleyan with seven kills each. With them setting the pace, Kenyon (12-15, 6-7 NCAC) rolled to victory, 25-20, 25-20, 25-15.
Sophomores
Mary Jo Scott and
Sierra DeLeon took charge against Hiram. Scott tallied ten kills with DeLeon adding eight, but Kenyon came out on the short end, 25-17, 25-22, 25-15, to the Terriers (22-6, 10-2 NCAC).
Freshman
Hannah Shank facilitated the offense with 52 assists over the two contests. Maricic also racked up five assists on the day, including four against the Battling Bishops.
Sophomore
Sandhya Bhasker also aced four serves against OWU (2-24, 1-11 NCAC).
Defensively, senior libero
Crystal Piras produced a team-high 19 digs on the day. Scott rounded out her full stat sheet with 13 digs on the defensive side.
Following the busy weekend at the College of Wooster, the Ladies will enjoy a few days off before hosting Allegheny College and Case Western Reserve University for a tri-match on Saturday.
