SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Defending national champion Wittenberg University flexed its muscles against Kenyon College Tuesday night in North Coast Athletic Conference volleyball action. The Tigers ran their conference record to a perfect 4-0 with a dominant 3-0 (25-11, 25-12, 25-14) decision over the Ladies.
The Wittenberg (12-3 overall) attack posted an efficient .337 hitting percentage for the match and progressively improved as the night wore on. Despite its best efforts, Kenyon couldn't get untracked and ended up with more errors (22) than kills (20).
Sophomore
Kaitlyn Power appeared immune to the struggles with eight kills and a.429 attack percentage. Junior
Sierra DeLeon matched Power for the team lead with eight kills of her own.
Hannah Shank a sophomore setter, kept the offense plugging along with 17 assists.
Junior
Melanie Couchman attempted to slow the Tigers with nine digs. The Ladies' (3-11, 1-2 NCAC) defense also got a boost from freshmen
Katie Goulder (8) and
Shannon Wright (7), who each posted season-highs in digs.
Kenyon will conclude its tough three-game road trip Saturday at DePauw University (16-2, 3-0 NCAC), which is currently one of three undefeated teams in the conference.
