Ladies end season with pair of non-conference losses

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Kenyon College volleyball team traveled to Case Western Reserve University on Saturday to take on both the host Spartans and the Ursuline College Arrows in a tri-match. The Ladies were unable to return home with a win and closed out their 2012 season with a 3-19 overall record.

In the Ladies' first match of the day against Ursuline, both Sierra DeLeon and Mary Jo Scott put down 13 kills apiece. Scott also rang up 14 digs and two aces. Setter Hannah Shank record 12 digs and 31 assists and defensive specialist McKenzie Mitchell had ten digs. Those numbers did not add up to win, though. Ursuline (6-27) claimed the match by scores of 25-13, 25-21, 25-19.

In the second match, the Ladies dropped three-straight sets again. Case (23-9) cruised to victory by a final score of 25-16, 25-18, 25-8. DeLeon added another 12 kills to her day, giving her a team-high 266 kills for the season. Shank tacked on 26 assists and closed out her season with a team-best total of 627. Also against Case, Kaitlyn Power contributed two solo blocks and three aces, while Mitchell had 14 digs and Katie Goulder added another eight digs.
