GREENCASTLE, Ind. – A match-high 16 kills from junior
Sierra DeLeon couldn't get the Kenyon College volleyball team off the skids Saturday at DePauw University. The Tigers, who remained undefeated in North Coast Athletic Conference action, sent the Ladies to their fifth-straight loss via a 3-0 defeat.
DePauw (17-2, 4-0 NCAC) boasted a near-flawless attack in winning the first two sets convincingly. The Tigers sported a .429 (13-1-28) hitting percentage to take the first set, 25-10, and used a .457 (17-1-35) percentage for a 25-15 triumph in the second. When DePauw fell off that pace in the third (8-4-27, .148), Kenyon kept it close before ultimately bowing out, 25-23.
DeLeon's 16 kills accounted for more than half of the Ladies' team total (30), but sophomore
Kaitlyn Power was also a big factor in the offense with seven kills. Sophomore
Hannah Shank dished out 25 assists and junior
Melanie Couchman paced the defense with 14 digs.
Kenyon will try again to break its losing streak Wednesday night when the College of Wooster visits Tomsich Arena at 7 p.m.
