CHICAGO, Ill. – The Kenyon College volleyball team finished off its stay at the two-day, six-team North Park Classic by splitting a pair of matches Saturday. Saint Mary's College, the Classic's champion, defeated Kenyon in four sets, but the Ladies bounced back to claim a three-set win over Indiana University-Northwest.
St. Mary's started the day with a win over host North Park University. The Belles then recorded a 25-19, 25-19, 19-25, 25-18 win over the Ladies and moved their Classic record to a perfect 4-0. Kenyon sophomore setter
Hannah Shank had 32 assists and a dozen digs against St. Mary's. Junior
Mary Jo Scott had 13 kills and classmate
Bella Stachowski registered 13 digs.
Sierra DeLeon, another junior, tacked on 12 kills in the four-set loss.
Scott, who was selected to the Classic's all-tournament team, and DeLeon combined for another 22 kills against Indiana University-Northwest while directing the Ladies to a smooth 25-19, 25-15, 25-9 victory. Sophomore
Kaitlyn Power threw down six kills without an error and also had two blocks. Shank handed out another 21 assists and tacked on 10 digs to boot.
The Ladies (1-3) now have a week away from competition and will return to the court to face Saint Vincent College and host Penn State-Behrend in a Saturday afternoon tri-match.
