GAMBIER, Ohio – The Ladies volleyball team welcomed three visiting squads for the Kenyon College Invitational, which began Friday night inside Tomsich Arena. In the first of their three matches on the weekend, the Ladies rallied late against Transylvania University before ultimately falling, 3-1.

The Pioneers (3-7) appeared to be breezing toward a sweep after winning the first two sets by counts of 25-19 and 25-17. Kenyon (2-5) still had a little fight left, though, and ground out a 27-25 triumph in the third. The Ladies were just as feisty in the fourth and went stride for stride with Transylvania again only to see the Pioneers pull out a 31-29 decision to seal the match.

Junior Sierra DeLeon was stellar for Kenyon with 17 kills and a service ace. Classmate Mary Jo Scott was all over the floor with 13 kills, two aces, one block and 14 digs. Sophomore Hannah Shank set up the offense with 38 assists and chipped in 15 digs, while fellow junior Bella Stachowski paced the defense with 17 digs.

The Ladies have a twinbill of action scheduled for Saturday. They'll tangle with Juniata College at noon and the University of Mount Union at 4 p.m.
