Ladies split a pair at Penn State-Behrend

ERIE, Pa. – The Kenyon College Ladies volleyball team wound up winning one and losing one during Saturday's tri-match at Penn State-Behrend. The Ladies held on for a drawn-out 3-2 win over St. Vincent College, but ended the day with a 3-0 loss to the host Lions.

Kenyon (2-4) and Saint Vincent (4-4) alternated set wins until the Ladies took the deciding set and chalked up a 25-21, 18-25, 25-22, 8-25, 18-16 victory. Junior Sierra DeLeon hammered down 19 kills to lead the Ladies. Classmate Mary Jo Scott added another 15 kills and sophomore Hannah Shank rang up 35 assists. Scott also contributed four aces and 15 digs, but it was junior Bella Stachowskiwho led the defensive efforts with 19 digs. Freshman McKenzie Mitchellchimed in with ten digs and three aces.

The numbers were not quite as good for the Ladies in their match against a tough Penn State-Behrend (4-2) club. DeLeon once again led Kenyon, but was limited to eight kills. Freshman Katie Goulder threw down seven kills and sophomore Kaitlyn Power struck six. Shank distributed another 23 assists and Stachowski recorded another 17 digs.

The Ladies will now return home for their first matches of the season in Tomsich Arena. Friday and Saturday they'll host three other teams in the annual Kenyon College Invitational.
