No. 6-ranked Tigers too powerful for Ladies to tackle

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Kenyon College volleyball team drew the tough task of taking on the No. 6-ranked Wittenberg University Tigers on Tuesday night. The young Ladies put up a fight, but eventually succumbed to the Tigers, who chalked up a 25-9, 25-19, 25-9, in their home arena.

Kenyon junior Katie Goulder put together one of her better matches of the season, as she led the Ladies in both kills (7) and digs (13). With the addition of one service ace, Gouilder accounted for eight of the Ladies' points.

Freshman Jensen Shurbert helped out the Kenyon cause with 11 assists. Her classmates, Tierney McClure and Rachael Thorson, also posted some solid numbers for the Ladies. McClure racked up four kills and six digs, while Thorson contributed another six digs, an ace, and an assist. Senior Amber Kraus also had six digs and an ace.

The loss dropped Kenyon's records to 2-15 overall and 0-2 in the North Coast Athletic Conference. The win boosted Wittenberg to 12-3 overall and 3-0 in the NCAC.
