Box Score GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The Kenyon College Ladies volleyball team made the long trip to DePauw University on Saturday and really never got in a groove once it hit the court. The Ladies managed to produce just 16 kills while suffering a 25-5, 25-16, 25-15 conference loss to the host Tigers.
The defeat dropped Kenyon to 2-17 overall and 0-3 in the North Coast Athletic Conference. DePauw, ranked just outside of the Top 25 in the latest national poll, used the victory to improve its records to 15-4 overall and 4-0 in NCAC play.
A trio of freshmen led the attack for the Ladies.
Grace Riley,
Lauren Kerr, and
Tierney McClure each recorded four kills.
Jensen Shurbert, another freshman, fed that trio 12 assists, while senior
Hannah Shank accounted for the Ladies' other four assists.
Defensively, it was freshman
Rachael Thorson who notched 20 digs for Kenyon. McClure added a dozen digs and Shurbert chipped in with eight more.
The Ladies, who have played just two home matches all season, will be on the road again next weekend. The team will travel to Glassboro, New Jersey to participate in the Rowan University Invitational, a two-day, five-team event. The Ladies will get the Invitational started with a 5 p.m. Saturday match against the host Profs.
