No. 12 DePauw too much for Kenyon

GREENCASTLE, In. – Savannah Trees scored 17 points to lead the No.12-ranked DePauw University Tigers (13-1, 6-0 NCAC) to a 72-39 North Coast Athletic Conference win over Kenyon College (3-10, 1-4 NCAC) Saturday afternoon at Neal Fieldhouse.

Hannah Douglas added 16 points for DePauw while Taylor Howard came off the bench to contribute 10.

Bailey Dominguez's nine points led Kenyon as she hit a trio of three-pointers. Avery Anderson and Griffin Tullis each tallied six points for the Ladies.

The Tigers, now winners of 91 straight conference home games, turned an eight-point halftime lead into a big victory.

In the first half, it was fairly tight about eight minutes into the game after Dominguez tied the score at 9 with a shot from downtown.

But the Tigers shook off the slow start to reel off an 11-0 run capped off by Trees' three-pointer which brought the score to 20-9 DePauw with six minutes left in the half. Kenyon clawed back to bring the double-digit deficit down to eight (27-19) after a Tullis layup with 10 seconds left.

The second half saw the NCAC's top team exert its will. DePauw shot 66.7% from the field while holding Kenyon to 28% shooting.

Trees scored a layup with 17:05 left in the game that capped off a 9-0 run to start the second half for the Tigers.

Kenyon never recovered from it as DePauw continued to pull away until the horn sounded.

The Tigers' defense was superb limiting the Ladies to a season-low 13 made field goals. DePauw also held a 28-10 advantage in points in the paint.

Next up for the Ladies is a matchup against Denison University (7-7, 3-2 NCAC) January 14 at 6 p.m. inside Tomsich Arena.
