BALTIMORE, Md. -- George Bugarinovic led four players in double-figure scoring as Johns Hopkins University (8-2) pulled away from Kenyon College (4-6) in the second half to claim an 80-45 victory in 24th annual Blue Jay Invitational at Goldfarb Gym.
Bugarinovic recorded a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Jimmy Hammer scored 13 points while Luke Chambers came off the bench to chip in with 12. Ryan Curan contributed 10 points and corralled eight rebounds.
The Lords were led by
Tim Connolly's game-high 19 points. He also added eight rebounds and handed out two assists. Connolly had seven made shots, which were nearly half of the team's total (18). Kenyon shot 27.3% (18-of-66) from the field, its second lowest percentage of the season, and with the fewest makes during a game this year.
Brien Comey added 10 points, grabbed five rebounds and blocked a season-high three shots.
JHU never trailed in the game and after
John Bray's jumper with 12:17 remaining in the half brought the score to 14-12 Blue Jays, the home team went on a 15-5 run to take control. Hammer led the run with six points while Chambers added five.
Kenyon closed the gap to a 10-point deficit (34-24) heading to halftime.
The Lords started the second half hoping to inch a little closer to the Blue Jays but weren't able to as Johns Hopkins scored the first 10 points of the half and built their lead to 20 points following Bugarinovic's free throw two-and-a-half minutes in.
Kenyon didn't get any closer than 16 points the rest of the way.
JHU's bench outscored Kenyon's 32-10 in the contest and the Blue Jays held a 34-22 advantage in points in the paint. Â Â Â

The Lords will look to bounce back January 3 when they face Randolph College (6-4) at 1 p.m. to close out the Blue Jay Invitational.
