2-0 on Saturday. The win, Kenyon's fifth straight, moved the team's record to 13-1 and 6-1 in NCAC play.MEADVILLE, Pa., --
Josh Lee assisted on a second-half goal as the nationally-ranked Kenyon College Lords (13-1, 6-1 NCAC) won its fifth-straight match Saturday evening defeating conference opponent Allegheny College by a 2-0 count.
Â
The victory sets up a huge North Coast Athletic Conference matchup in four nights against rival Ohio Wesleyan University on the road. The Battling Bishops are currently in first place in the standings with Kenyon right behind them.
Â
Early in the first half,
Tony Amolo attempted the Lords' first on-goal shot in the third minute. That attempt was saved, however, by Gators keeper Jake Pugliese.
Â
Kenyon fired five more times the rest of the half, but nothing came through.
Â
Second-half action saw the Lords pepper the Allegheny defense with six shots through the first 20 minutes before the scoreless tie ended.
Â
In the 65th minute, Lee crossed the ball into the box, and the rebound off a Gator defender came to
Woo Jeon who did the rest for his sixth goal of the season.
Â
Down 1-0, Allegheny had several opportunities to tie the match after the initial goal but a trio of shots from the Gators was denied by keeper
Sam Clougher. The junior goalie recorded four saves in the shutout which tied him with Marshall Chapin '94 for the most career clean sheets in school history (32).
Â
The Lords added to their lead in the 70th minute. On this occasion,
Billy O'Neill crossed the ball from the right side and watched as Amolo headed it home.
Â
Kenyon out-shot Allegheny 16-8 including a 6-4 lead in on-goal attempts.
Â
Fans are encouraged to watch the Lords on October 28 at nearby Delaware, Ohio when they face OWU starting at 7 p.m.
