Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Lords clamp down on Yeomen, 12-6

OBERLIN, Ohio – Kenyon College (7-5, 4-2 NCAC) made the most of its opportunities as the Lords defeated Oberlin College (5-7, 1-4 NCAC) by a 12-6 count Wednesday night at the Austin E. Knowlton Athletics Complex in a North Coast Athletic Conference men's lacrosse game.

Despite being out-shot 43-30, the Lords found the defensive stands needed and used the second and third quarters to get another conference win.

Junior Patrick Shevelson helped Kenyon in goal by collecting 14 saves while Robert Jacobs paced the Lords' offense with a team-high three goals. A trio of other players: J.T. Meyer, Fritz Waine, and Alex Lopez each tallied two scores.

Both teams traded blows midway through the first quarter. Waine gave Kenyon the first lead of the game when he scored with 7:17 left. The Yeomen answered right back less than 90 seconds later as Nick Lobley delivered on a pass from Matthew Fox.

The back and forth continued until the score was tied at 3 with just over a minute left in the opening quarter after Kinori Rosnow tallied Oberlin's third goal.

Lopez contributed the Lords' final goal in the first and gave the visitors a 4-3 lead.

After the opening-quarter tussle, Kenyon took over the second.

Shevelson recorded three saves and his offensive counterparts helped the Lords take command of the contest. Meyer started the scoring in the second and Kenyon continued to push ahead with goals from Jacobs and Waine.

Kenyon took a 7-3 lead into the break.

The third quarter, much like the second, was controlled by the Lords who took their biggest lead (10-3) after Meyer scored again with nine seconds left in the third.

Oberlin did score a trio of times in the fourth but it didn't find any more after Fox found the back of the pipes with 3:08 left in the game which brought the final tally.

The Lords will look next to the College of Mount St. Joseph on April 11 in Cincinnati starting at 1 p.m.
