GAMBIER, Ohio – Four different Kenyon College (5-0) men's soccer players scored Sunday afternoon as the Lords won 4-0 over the visiting Marietta College Pioneers.
The Lords, who were coming off a big victory over Carnegie Mellon just a day ago, didn't show any complacency on Sunday as they jumped all over Marietta in the first half scoring three times.
Junior
Josh Lee got the scoring going in the eighth minute as he took a
Tony Amolo pass to center box and struck to the right corner. It was his first goal of the season.
A little over three minutes later,
Woo Jeon made a sliding shot on a cross from
Oliver Wynn and scored from the left post to extend Kenyon's lead to 2-0.
The Lords' final goal of the half saw
Jeremiah Barnes put the ball into the box and
Henry Myers score on a header to the right corner.
Marietta (2-3) had just three shots on goal in the first half and all those attempts were denied by Kenyon goalie
Sam Clougher.
In the second half, the Kenyon defense used the big 3-0 lead to clamp down on the Pioneers limiting them to just one shot.
Kenyon's final goal came to
David Resnekov in the 51st minute. The defender's first career goal came as he navigated the box and fired into the left corner.
The Lords dominated on offense out-shooting the Pioneers 24-6 and holding a 7-2 lead in corners.
Next up for Kenyon is a road date against Centre College on September 20 starting at noon.
