DANVILLE, Ky. – The No. 2/3 Kenyon College (6-0) men's soccer team had arguably its best defensive game of the season Sunday afternoon as it handed Centre College a 2-0 defeat. After moving up in both major polls (D3.com/NSCAA) earlier in the week, Kenyon responded with an impressive victory.
In the match, Kenyon clamped down on the home team's offense limiting the Colonels to just one shot on goal.
First-half action didn't produce much in the way of shot attempts as the Lords fired twice while the Colonels didn't get any attempts on Lords goalie
Sam Clougher.
In the second half, the Lords started to find more scoring opportunities.
Kenyon fired the first six shots of the second period before finding all the scoring they would need to claim victory.
Junior
Jordan Glassman, who had been slowly reacclimating himself into the lineup due to early-season injury, found his first goal of the season in the 74th minute. After
Woo Jeon's header was saved by Centre's Dylan Spencer, the rebound came to Glassman who fired into the net.
Centre had an opportunity in the 87th minute to tie the match, but Noah Wesley-Chevalier's shot was denied by Clougher.
The Lords added one more score in the final minute as
Dalton Eudy passed from right of the 18-yard box to Jeon who then tapped the ball in from about five yards away.
Kenyon out-shot Centre 16-2 and held a 5-3 advantage in corners.
Next up for the Lords is a trip to Muskingum University September 22. The match is set to start at 7 p.m.
