FORT PIERCE, Fla. – Over 14 innings of work on Monday, the Kenyon Lords' pitching staff allowed just two runs to Westminster College (PA) en route to a doubleheader sweep against the Titans in the Sunshine State. Kenyon won the opener 6-0 before claiming game two, 7-2.
Additionally, the performances on the mound yielded just a .196 batting average to Westminster and a combined 19 strikeouts.
GAME ONE
Junior

Patrick O'Leary who closed the final two frames with three strikeouts and scattered two hits.
With Kenyon's staff dealing, the Lords' offense was able to provide a lift in a few innings.
First-inning action saw Kenyon get a pair of hits within the first four at-bats and with two outs,
Gaige Howard drew a bases-loaded walk plating
Max Warren.
The 1-0 lead then was bumped up to 3-0 in the second.
Mikey Arman singled through the left side scoring
Matt von Roemer and in the same sequence, a Titans error in left field allowed Warren to cross home plate.
Two innings later,
Alec Manning drove in a baserunner while Howard notched a two-out, two-run double to left center moving the lead to 6-0.
In the other dugout, Westminster never threatened offensively and got just a pair of baserunners in scoring position.
Kenyon was led offensively by von Roemer, Howard and Warren who each recorded three hits.
GAME TWO
The Titans got the first lead, but the Lords followed in the home half of the first to go up for good.
An error by Westminster's third baseman after a grounder from
Phillip Nam allowed Warren to tie it up at 1. Later, another Titans error brought Nam across home. Kenyon's final tally of the frame was delivered by Manning who singled to left field driving Howard in.
Westminster cut into the Lords' lead in the second with a run-scoring single from Joseph Salmen. But after that, Kenyon pitcher
Connor Farrell allowed the Titans to get only three more hits and the Lords added to their lead.
In the bottom of the third, Howard collected his team-leading fifth two-bagger of the year which scored Nam and moved Kenyon ahead 4-2. Two batters later,
Jake Berry had an RBI groundout and that was followed by
Matt Contreras' one-run single pushing the tally to 6-2.
The Lords' final run came in the fifth as Contreras scored on a wild pitch.
Farrell earned his second win of the season tossing a complete game, allowing one earned run, seven hits while striking out five. Offensively, Contreras and Manning each had multiple hits.
