Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Balanced attack leads Lords past Tigers

GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The No. 16-ranked Kenyon College men's soccer team continued to share the wealth Saturday at DePauw University. Three different players scored goals, including freshman Luke Muther, as a balanced Lords' attack blitzed the host Tigers, 3-0.

With Muther added to the list, Kenyon now has 17 different players on its roster that have scored at least one goal this season. One of those players, senior David Anderson, accounted for Kenyon's second goal Saturday and now leads the team with eight scores on the season.

Muther was the first to score for the Lords, who are now 12-1-2 overall and 6-0-1 in North Coast Athletic Conference competition. He hauled in a pass from Philippe Stengel and launched a shot that went off DePauw goalkeeper Austin Bodner's fingers and in to the back of the net for his first collegiate goal.

That score came in the game's 17th minute and the Lords did not strike again until the 67th minute. That's when Anderson doubled up the Kenyon lead by scoring off a corner kick sent into play by David Kim. In addition to being his eighth goal of the season, it was also Anderson's 13th goal of his Kenyon career.

With less than four minutes left in the game, another freshman stepped up for he Lords. This time it was Sam Carson, who booted in his third goal of the season using an assist from classmate Sebastian Gaese. Carson's shot was one of 20 for the Lords, who held DePauw to just seven attempts.

Bodner was forced to make seven saves for the Tigers, while Kenyon goalkeeper Ian McInturf had to make just two saves to record his ninth shutout of the season.

DePauw, which was on a four-game unbeaten streak coming into Saturday's contest, fell to 10-3-3 overall and 3-2-2 in the NCAC.
