SALISBURY, Md. – Two-time defending national champions and eighth-ranked Salisbury University proved to be too much for Kenyon College (3-2) on Wednesday as the Seagulls won 20-2. It was the first matchup between the two institutions.
The Seagulls (4-2) scored the game's first 11 goals and took that lead into the halftime locker room.
Salisbury out-shot Kenyon 29-9 in the first half and watched as eight different players scored including two each from Josh Melton and Tyler Snyder.
Kenyon senior
Josh Galardi broke through for the team's first goal of the game early in the third. After a penalty on Salisbury, Galardi scored for the eleventh time this year on a pass from fellow senior
Jonah Florence.
The Lords were not able to close the gap any more as Salisbury reeled off nine straight to go up 20-1. Kenyon did manage one more goal, this one from
Joe Woody with 4:24 left in the fourth quarter.
By game's end, the Salisbury had fired 50 shots to Kenyon's 19 including a 26-7 advantage in shots on goal. The Seagulls also forced the Lords into a season-high 25 turnovers.
Next on the schedule for Kenyon is a North Coast Athletic Conference home date versus Wabash College on March 11 at 1 p.m.
