Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Physical match ends in draw for #22 Lords

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – During Sunday's men's soccer match between Kenyon College and Carnegie Mellon University, a combined 41 fouls were called including 10 yellow cards as the Lords and Tartans played to a 1-1 double overtime draw at CMU Soccer Field.

At the start of the fifth all-time meeting between the schools, Kenyon was on the attack early.

A little over five minutes in, Brice Koval drove into the left side of the 18-yard box and the senior's low-liner just missed to the right of the goal. About three minutes later, Koval broke the scoreless tie.

After Gunner Found received a pass from Max Taylor near the right end line, the midfielder tapped a pass to Koval in front of the net and watched as his shot sailed into the upper portion of the net.

That 1-0 count remained the rest of the half as the entire Lords squad harassed the Tartans into just one shot attempt.

In the second half, though, Carnegie was able to get behind the Kenyon defense a couple times and eventually tie the match.

The home team's first good look came at the 64th minute as Jason Edmunds fired from the right side into keeper Ian McInturf's arms. With about 15 minutes left, a counter attack left a 3-on-2 break for Carnegie, however, a cross near the right post went out of bounds.

Then, with less than six minutes left in regulation, the Tartans tied things up. Edmunds got around a couple Kenyon defenders near the right end line, passed into the middle, and Anthonu Gulli's shot deflected off a Lord into the net.

During the first overtime, both teams had one shot on goal, including one from Philippe Stengel, but neither came through. Then in the final extra session, the Lords outshot the Tartans 3-0 but just could not find the game-winner.

Kenyon ended up with a 17-5 shots advantage by game's end.

Next on the schedule for the Lords is a trip to Wilmington College on September 7 at 7:30 p.m.
