WILMINGTON, Ohio – Kenyon College (2-0-1) scored four times in the second half on Friday night as it defeated Wilmington College 5-0 at Williams Stadium.
The 22nd-ranked Lords dominated all night, outshooting the Quakers 18-3 while having a plus-four advantage in corners (6-2).
It did take some time, though, for Kenyon to get its first goal. With less than three minutes before halftime,
Jack Cohen navigated down the far sideline and crossed a pass to a newcomer
Tomas Munoz Reyes who one-timed a shot into the right corner. It was both Cohen's first career assist and Reyes' first career goal.
With a 1-0 lead, the Lords quickly doubled their advantage just 1:38 into the second half.
John Penas got around his defender, drove down the left end line and passed back to
Philippe Stengel who scored from near the top of the box.
Gunner Found then got into the scoring, his first career goal in fact, a little over eight minutes later. The junior headed a pass from Stengel into the right corner to extend the Kenyon lead to 3-0.
The Lords scored twice more, including a highlight-reel kick from
David Anderson. The senior midfielder drove by the Quakers defense and rocketed a shot from at least 35 yards away into the left side during the game's 65th minute.
Kenyon's fifth goal came as
Sam Carson tapped a pass to fellow freshman
Sebastian Gaese near the top of the box. The 6-foot-3 forward fired into the left side of the net for his first score of 2018.
Tomorrow, the Lords will face off against Adrian College at 5 p.m. to conclude their weekend.
