GAMBIER, Ohio – Kenyon College (5-0) remained undefeated this early season after sweeping Mount St. Joseph University on Friday night at Tomsich Arena during the team's annual Invitational. Kenyon was efficient on the offensive end connecting on .315 of its attacks while holding the Lions to a paltry .136 total.

In the first, things were kept close past the midway point as the Lions trailed 15-13 following a Riley Brunner service ace. A few sequences later, though, the Ladies had built up a five-point advantage (18-13) after a kill by Cason. Mount St. Joseph pulled the count to two, 23-21, but consecutive kills by Witschey ended the set.
An 8-0 run in the second by the Ladies helped them pull away en route to a 25-18 victory. After Swanson's kill moved the scoreboard to 10-9 MSJ,
Maleah Miller served seven straight points for Kenyon which was aided by five errors from the Lions. That stretch moved the home team's advantage to six points (16-10) and the Lions never got any closer than three points the rest of the way.
Kenyon closed the match with a 25-22 third-set win. Bruzzio led the team with seven kills while Davidson notched four. Competition was close again as the visitors trailed 19-18 after a bad set and later 22-21 following a Briana Looney kill. However, a kill by Bruzzio and two more from Miller pushed the Ladies into their fifth win of the year.
Tomorrow, the Ladies will face Grove City College at 10 a.m. and follow that up with a 2 p.m. match versus Muskingum University.
