Box Score 2 ADRIAN, Mich. – Ending the regular-season schedule on the upswing, the Kenyon College volleyball team completed a two-game sweep during a tri-match at Adrian College. Early in the day, the Ladies knocked off the Kalamazoo College Hornets, 25-15, 19-25, 26-24, 25-19. Later, they finished off the host Adrian College Bulldogs, 25-18, 25-20, 25-18.
Senior
Mackenzie Bruzzio was the catalyst for the Ladies' attack all day long. She racked up 16 kills in the four-set win over Kalamazoo and then delivered 10 more against Adrian. Her total of 26 on the day gave her 261 for the season, bumping her over the 1,000-kill milestone for her career. Bruzzio's updated career total is now at 1,009. That makes her just the seventh player in program history to accomplish the feat.
In addition to the 26 kills on Saturday, Bruzzio also produced 16 digs and five service aces. Those marks increased her career totals to 858 and 54, respectively.
In the first match against Kalamazoo, Kenyon also received nine kills from
Maleah Miller, eight from
Lauren Limbach and seven from
Haley Witschey. Against Adrian, Limbach tacked on another 10 kills, while Witschey added eight more.
Maya Sapsford led the team with 19 assists against the Hornets and 15 more against the Bulldogs. Her classmate,
Jac Cousineau, came up with 25 assists in the two matches combined. Along the back row,
Katie Howard amassed a team-high 31 digs. She registered 17 against Kalamazoo and 14 against Adrian.
The two wins put Kenyon's overall season record at 7-19. The Ladies now turn their attention toward North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament play, which will begin Friday with a match against The College of Wooster. Kenyon goes into the tournament as the No. 7 seed, while Wooster is the No. 6 seed.
