Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Lords roll to 18-2 win at Wabash

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – The Kenyon College men's lacrosse team jumped out to a 7-0 lead after one quarter of play Saturday and coasted to an 18-2 North Coast Athletic Conference victory at Wabash College.

The win kept Kenyon a perfect 5-0 against the Little Giants, dating back to when the teams first met in 2015. It also improved the Lords' season records to 10-5 overall and 5-2 in NCAC play.

Twelve different Kenyon players accounted for the 18 goals. Senior Emilio Sosa led the way with three. Sam Hatfield, Will Harrigan, Will Robbins and Joe Woody all scored twice. Nick Vitale scored once and had four assists to lead the Lords with a five-point game. His Kenyon single-season assist record now stands at 51 and his current point total (67) is the sixth-best, single-season mark in program history.

Sosa also had one assist to finish with four points, while Hatfield, Harrigan and Woody all had three-point games.

Woody scored twice in the game's first nine minutes and Vitale assisted on three of Kenyon's first five goals. Vitale also scored once before the first quarter ended.

Sosa and Vi Lobo scored in the second quarter and the Lords went into the break with a 9-1 lead. That lead ballooned to 13 goals, as the Lords opened the second half with five straight scores, including two from Hatfield.

From that point, it was downhill for the Lords, who out-shot the Little Giants 64-14. Kenyon goalie David Metzger played the first three quarters and made five saves.

The Lords dominated just about every facet of the game. They won 20 of 24 face-offs and went 2-of-3 in extra-man opportunities, while holding Wabash to just one extra-man goal in nine chances.

The loss sent Wabash's records to 5-10 overall and 1-5 in the NCAC.

Kenyon has just one regular-season game left, a home contest against The College of Wooster on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
