KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Recognizing exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2019-20 academic year, United Soccer Coaches announced Thursday the Team Academic Award winners at the collegiate level. The Kenyon College Lords were among the programs who earned the honor.
To qualify for the United Soccer Coaches award, a team had to possess a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster for the 2019-20 academic year. Kenyon, one of 333 teams honored, posted a team grade point average of 3.30.
On the field, the Lords turned in an impressive 2019 season that concluded with a 19-2-2 overall record and top-10 national ranks from both the United Soccer Coaches (No. 10) and D3soccer.com (No. 6). The team won its fifth straight North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) regular season title, as well as its fifth straight NCAC Tournament title. The Lords then hosted three NCAA Division III Tournament games and won the first two before being eliminated, in overtime, by Montclair State University in the tournament's third round.
The team academic award was the Lords' fourth overall and third in the last nine seasons.
