Records fall as Lords win Kenyon Relays

RESULTS

GAMBIER, Ohio -- Seven meet records fell and four program records were also set during the course of the Kenyon College Relays on Saturday. The host Lords swept all the swimming and diving events, racked up 112 team points and finished atop the final standings.

In the diving well, Israel Zavaleta finally got to make his Kenyon debut. He did so by winning both the diving events and setting program records for 1-meter 6 dives (367.25) and 11 dives (564.60), as well as 3-meter 6 dives (390.05) and 11 dives (592.95). All but his 11-dive performance on the 1-meter board were pool records, as well.

In swimming events, Kenyon senior David Fitch took charge, winning all six relays he participated in. He was a part of the fastest 500-yard crescendo relay and the 200-yard freestyle relay. The other four relays he swam with all set meet records. That list included the 200-yard medley (1:31.07), the 200-yard backstroke (1:31.01), the 200-yard butterfly (1:28.63), and the 400-yard individual medley (3:29.71) relays.

Joining Fitch on the 200-yard medley relay were Vaughn Hajra, Marcus Hong and Aleksa Dobric. On the 200-yard backstroke relay, it was Hong, Spencer Pruett and Noah Hargrove. On the 200-yard butterfly relay it was Hong, Hargrove and Marko Krtinic. And, in the 400-yard individual medley it was Hargorve, Krtinic and Bryan Fitzgerald.

Following Fitch's six wins, Hong, Dobric and Hargrove rang up four wins apiece. Hajra and Fitzgearald finished with three wins apiece. Hajra, Dobric, Luis Weekes and Phillip Howard combined to post Kenyon's other meet record, clocking in with a winning time of 1:45.53 in the 200-yard breaststroke relay.

Other Kenyon swimmers who were a part of at least one relay win included Colin Bowling, Cam Williston, Mart Niehoff and Aleksa Kisic.

Following the Lords in the final team standings were Carnegie Mellon University in second place with 80 points, Ohio Northern University in third place with 54 points, Ohio Wesleyan University in fourth place with 52 points and Wittenberg University in fifth place with 22 points.
