Barrows named assistant on Owls swim staff

GAMBIER, Ohio -- Jess Book, Lords and Ladies Alumni Head Coach, Owls Swimming and Diving, announced this week that Nick Barrows was hired to fill the vacant assistant coach position within the Kenyon College staff.

Barrows rounds out the 2026-27 staff that includes Book, as well as Associate Head Coach Dani Korman and Head Diving Coach Jason Glorius. He comes to Gambier after spending the last five years at NCAA Division I Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

At Miami, Barrows was a four-year member of the RedHakws swimming and diving program and was a three-time Academic All-Mid-America Conference honoree and one-time member of the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Team. He graduated in 2025 with a degree in psychology and stayed another year to earn his master's degree in sport leadership and management.

During his postgraduate studies, Barrows served as a graduate assistant coach on the Miami staff for the 2025-26 season, working mainly with distance swimmers. He also worked as a mental performance intern, providing mental skills to Miami student-athletes in one-on-one sessions.

A native of Williamsburg, Virginia, Barrows got started in coaching during summers away from Miami, returning home to serve as the head swim coach at Colony Pool.

Barrows' first day of work at Kenyon is slated for July 1.
