Becker wraps up season at NCAA Championship

RESULTS

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Kenyon College senior Emma Becker closed the book on the 2021 women's cross country season by competing Saturday as an individual qualifier at the NCAA Division III Championship. She finished 104th among the 292 runners who finished the race, which was held at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park.

Becker eased into the beginning of the race, but made up almost 100 places between the first and third kilometers. At the fourth kilometer, she moved into 100th place and then into 94th place at the five-kilometer mark. When she crossed the finish line, she stopped the clock at 22:29.7.

Becker's appearance in the national championship was her second. In 2019, as a sophomore, she claimed 32nd place. She is the first Ladies runner to participate in multiple national championship races since Jenna Willett made three straight runs from 2011 to 2013.

Kassie Rosenbum from Loras College was this season's individual champion. She registered a winning time of 20:11.1.

Johns Hopkins University took the 2021 team title with 130 points. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps was second with 132 points and SUNY Geneseo was third with 168 points.
