Ladies drop conference road game at DePauw

GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- Greta Propp scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for her first collegiate double-double, but that wasn't enough to generate a victory for the Kenyon College women's basketball team, which dropped a North Coast Athletic Conference contest, 81-45, at DePauw University on Sunday.

Propp was 6-of-11 from the floor and 1-of-2 at the free throw line. Her 13 points were a team high, while her 10 rebounds were a game high. She was supported on the offensive end by teammates Grace Connery and Katie Orefice, who both racked up 11 points.

Even though Propp found her mark, the Ladies, as a team, struggled to shoot with any accuracy. Throughout the game, the Kenyon women were 18-of-35 for a 35.3 shooting percentage. At the other end of the floor, DePauw was 33-of- 69 for a 47.8 shooting percentage.

DePauw (4-0, 1-0 NCAC) unleashed a deep roster, which included 18 players who played at least a few minutes of the game and scored two or more points. Leading the way for the Tigers was Mya Shannon, who had 15 points and six rebounds, while Moira McGinley tallied11 points and grabbed six more rebounds.

From the start, DePauw controlled the game. The host Tigers built quick leads of 9-4 and then 17-8 to finish off the first quarter of play. In the second quarter, the Ladies fell even further behind, scoring just four points as the Tigers got to the break with a hefty 45-12 lead.

The lead increased to as many as 42 points in the third quarter and as many as 46 points in the fourth quarter.

Kenyon starters accounted for 42 of the team's 45 points, opposed to DePauw, which got 53 points off the bench.

The Ladies (0-5, 0-1 NCAC) will look to get back on track Saturday with a non-conference home game against Muskingum University.
