OBERLIN – Following a tightly contested first half, Oberlin College defeated the Kenyon College men's basketball team, 82-69. The loss drops the Lords to 1-8 overall and 0-4 in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) play while the Yeomen improve to 4-4, 2-1 in the NCAC.

The first half saw both teams battle back and forth. After 20 minutes of play, the Yeomen and Lords played to seven ties and 13 lead changes. Kenyon and Oberlin went into halftime with the Yeomen up by one, 38-37.

In the opening minutes of the second half, the two teams continued to exchange buckets. After Miles Versa brought the game to within one at 50-49, Oberlin tightened up their defense and made shots on the other end of the court. The Yeomen went on an 18-4 run that lasted six minutes, but the Lords continued to battle back from the 16 point deficit.

Kenyon cut the lead to single digits, 74-65, on a David Mazon three-point shot with 2:24 left to go in the game. Down the stretch, the Yeomen continued to answer Kenyon buckets while coming up with defensive stops. With 17 seconds left, Oberlin stretched their lead to 82-69 on a pair of free throws.
