Beshentseva, Dakos invited to NCAA Championship

INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Committee has selected the individuals who will compete in the singles and doubles competition of the 2022 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships. Among the selections were Kenyon College senior Daria Beshentseva and sophomore Eleni Dakos.

Beshentseva will be making her first appearance in the Singles Championship, which will be held May 27-29 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida. She'll be one of 32 players in the national bracket and she'll carry with her a 17-9 overall record, including a 14-5 mark playing at the No. 1 spot in the Ladies' lineup.

Currently ranked as the No. 5 singles player in the ITA's Central Region, Beshentseva is a three-time, all-conference player, including being named the 2022 North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year. She's also a two-time All-American in doubles play.

While national singles competition is new to Beshentseva, doubles play is not. Her two All-America awards came playing alongside Erika Oku in the 2020 and 2021 pandemic-shortened seasons. This time around, Beshentseva will play with Dakos, as one of just 16 duos in the Doubles Championship, which will be played at the same location and during the same days as the Singles Championship.

Together, Beshentseva and Dakos have a 15-5 mark in doubles action and have won ten straight matches. They'll head to the championship ranked as the ITA's No. 3 pairing in the Central Region.

For the individual championships, the national committee selected a percentage of singles players and doubles teams from each of the eight regions. The selection of teams and individuals for the championships is based on won-lost record, strength of schedule and eligibility and availability of student-athletes.
