Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Victory over Adrian runs Kenyon’s record to 6-0

ADRIAN, Mich. -- David Chintala scored four goals and Jack Giuffre served up five assists Wednesday as they powered the Kenyon College men's lacrosse team through a 14-5 non-conference win at Adrian College.

The victory moved Kenyon's overall record to 6-0, marking the first time in a full regular-season slate that the Owls began a season 6-0 since the 2007 campaign. The program did start the 2021 season at 6-0 also, but that was the beginning and the end of the regular season during the pandemic-abbreviated schedule.

Kenyon jumped out to a quick start Wednesday and never looked back. Giuffre assisted Colin McCarthy on the first goal of the game and then Evan Bongers set up Rowan Goldin to make it 2-0 in Kenyon's favor.

Adrian (3-4) got on the board at the 11:03 mark of the first quarter, but would only score one more time in the half. Between those two Bulldog tallies, the Owls rattled off eight straight to blow the game wide open. In the run, Chintala, Giuffre, and Joe Boesel each scored twice. After Giuffre scored twice, he strung together four consecutive assists to boost the Owls to a 10-1 advantage with 5:31 left in the first half.

From there, Kenyon lifted its foot of the gas a bit. After Adrian scored one goal to close out the first half, the Bulldogs opened the second half with three straight, cutting Kenyon's lead down to 10-5. That, however, would be as close as they would get.

Chintala scored once in the third and once in the fourth. Between his two goals Chase MacCartee and Jack Marshall also scored to finalize the offensive output for both teams.

Kenyon held a 41-32 edge in shots taken and thanks to another solid performance from Thomas Nelson, the Owls won 19-of-22 faceoffs. At the center of the field, Nelson went 13-of-16 and teammate Will Jordan added a perfect 6-for-6 showing.

Following Giuffre's seven-point game and Chintala's five-point game, Boesel finished with four points on two goals and two assists, while Bongers totaled three points on a goal and two assists.

In goal, Adam Hall went the distance for the Owls and tallied a dozen saves.

Kenyon will have an opportunity to extend its win streak to seven games when it heads back to Michigan on Sunday to take on Albion College (4-2).
