SERF gears up for USA Ultimate Championship play

GAMBIER, Ohio -- SERF, a Kenyon College club team, qualified for the 2023 USA Ultimate Division III College Championship, which will be held this upcoming weekend at Obetz Fortress Park in Obetz, Ohio.

Consisting of 29 players, SERF is one of just 16 teams to make the men's Division III Championship. The Kenyon club qualified for nationals after winning  its conference and then winning the six-team Ohio Valley Regional Tournament a couple of weeks ago.

SERF will enter the national bracket as the No. 8 seed and will carry with it a No. 16 national rank from Ultiworld's latest DIII power rankings.

The Championship's 16 teams are divided into four, four-team pools. Each team plays the other three teams in its pool throughout the course of the first day of competition. The top three teams in each bracket advance to the championship bracket with the winner of each pool getting a first-round bye. First-round and quarterfinal rounds of the championship bracket are played on Saturday. The semifinal rounds will be played Sunday and the final will take place on Monday.

SERF will jump into its first game Saturday at 8:30 a.m. against the No. 9-seeded Bucks, the club team from Berry College. Following that contest, SERF is lined up to play No. 12-seeded Detox, from Occidental College, at 10:45 a.m. Finally, completing its pool-play schedule, SERF will face the No. 1 seeded Wasabi, from Colorado College, at 1 p.m.
