Kenyon women cruise in dual meet with OWU

GAMBIER, Ohio -- Back in action for the first time since hosting a season-opening meet three weeks ago, the Kenyon College women's swimming and diving team won all 10 swimming events and both diving events in a Friday night dual meet that resulted in a 190-28 Owls' victory over the Battling Bishops of Ohio Wesleyan University.

Eight different swimmers accounted for Kenyon's eight individual-event victories, while seniors Celia Ford and Jennah Fadely each tacked on a pair of relay wins to lead the Owls with three event victories on the night.

Ford and Fadely got the meet started by joining Gabrielle Wei and Lucy Patterson on the winning 400-yard medley relay team that clocked in at 3:54.19. At the end of the meet, Ford and Fadely paired with Nikola Kovacova and Sydney Geboy to win the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 3:30.78.

In between those relays, Ford was victorious in the 50-yard butterfly, clocking in at 26.30. One event earlier, Fadely posted the top time of 2:07.12 in the 200-yard individual medley.

Following up on the seniors' success, a trio of juniors claimed three more wins for the Owls. That group included Lisa Torrecillas-Jouault, Gwen Eisenbeis and Molly Haag. Torrecillas-Jouault took the 50-yard freestyle in 24.29, Eisenbeis registered the winning time of 27.23 in the 50-yard backstroke, and Haag handled the lone distance event, clocking in first with a time of 5:04.89 in the 500-yard freestyle relay.

Kenyon's other three individual event wins came from first-year Kelsey Van Eldik and from sophomores Bengisu Caymaz and Kate Bogan. Van Eldik won the final individual swimming event, taking the 50-yard breaststroke in 29.84. Caymaz claimed victory in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.10, and Bogan was the quickest in the 100-yard freestyle, clocking in at 54.49.

In the diving well, first-year Nadia Milovich notched two more wins for the Owls. She won the 1-meter competition with a score of 259.35 and then won the 3-meter event with a score of 249.67.

The Kenyon crew jumps right back in the water tomorrow morning for its annual rivalry dual with Denison University. That meet is scheduled for a 10:00 a.m. start.
