Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Owls topple Thunder, remain unbeaten

ANGOLA, Ind. – After playing in two consecutive home games and rising to number four on the United Soccer Coaches' Top-25 Poll, the Kenyon College men's soccer team traveled to Angola, Indiana for a tussle with the Trine University Thunder on Saturday afternoon.

The Owls took the lead early in the second half and never let it go, as three goals in the final 45 minutes secured the 3-0 win for Kenyon to remain unbeaten on the 2024 season.

In the first half, the Owls got the offense going early, registering nine first-half shots and four corners to start the game. Shots from Eamon Dujakovich and Jacob Lazarus found the cage, but Kenyon could not crack the Trine (2-4) defense, entering halftime at a 0-0 tie.

Just after the half, the Owls finally broke through. In the 51st minute, Alem Duratovic ripped a shot to the top right corner of the net to put the visitors up 1-0, with a crafty assist by Gerardo Martinez. The goal marks the senior's eighth of the season, putting him first on the team in goals and points (17).

Not done yet, Kenyon (4-0-2) went ahead in the 76th minute, as first-year Justin Buchwalter notched his first career goal, firing a low shot into the bottom left corner of the net to send the Owls up 2-0.

Two minutes later, Martinez added to his impressive stat line to put Kenyon up 3-0 with his first goal of the young season, beating the Trine goaltender up the middle by way of an assist from Isaac Cortez to set the final score.

Offensively, the Owls outshot the Thunder 17-7 on the day and had a 6-1 advantage on corner kicks. Duratovic led Keynon with six shots, while Dujakovich and Lazarus followed with three shots apiece.

On the other end, Jack Pedreschi was perfect for the afternoon, making four saves in the shutout effort. This marks the 30th career shutout for the senior keeper.

Kenyon's record improves to 4-0-2 with the win. The Owls will remain on the road and make the short trip to Westerville, Ohio on Friday, September 27 for a matchup with the Otterbein University Cardinals, kicking off at 7:00 pm.
